Franck Massard

Awarded Best Sommelier of England in 1996, Franck Massard moved to Catalonia in 2004 to craft his own wines. His journey began in the Priorat, south of Barcelona, where he cultivates Garnacha and Carignan on the region’s distinctive slate soils (llicorella).
In 2019, together with David Forer, Master of Wine, he founded Clos Salanca, a winery in historic Priorat with century-old vines planted as early as 1915. Clos Salanca has been farmed organically for over 20 years and is now embracing regenerative agriculture, aiming to restore soil health and biodiversity.
Beyond Priorat, Franck Massard also develops projects in other Catalan appellations such as Montsant and Terra Alta, consistently producing wines that are elegant, fresh, and terroir-driven.
