El Escocés Volante (Norrel Roberston)

The El Escocés Volante estate, founded by Norrel Robertson MW in Aragón, is located in the DO Calatayud. After working vintages in Portugal, Italy, France, Australia, Chile, and New Zealand, he settled in Spain in 2003.
The vineyards cover about 21 hectares of old-vine Garnacha, some over 100 years old, complemented by Tempranillo and Syrah. The soils are mainly slate and clay-limestone, at high altitude, giving the wines freshness and intensity. Viticulture is sustainable and organic (not yet certified), with a strong focus on terroir expression.
Signature wines include Papa Luna, once served at Ferran Adrià’s El Bulli restaurant, as well as El Puño and Manda Huevos, each showcasing the richness and diversity of Calatayud’s terroirs.
