The spirit of Lafleur at the heart of Bordeaux
Founded in 1650 by Jacques Verdery, a distant ancestor of the Guinaudeau family, Château Grand Village is rooted in a long winemaking tradition. Since the early 2000s, a new dynamic has taken hold with the arrival of Baptiste Guinaudeau and his wife Julie, bringing a renewed and ambitious vision.
The vineyard is now managed according to the same principles applied at Château Lafleur: careful observation of the terroir, meticulous vineyard work, and precise vinification. This approach has enabled Grand Village to reach a remarkable level of quality, both in the cellar and in the vineyard.
In 2018, a new label was introduced to symbolize this evolution.
Grand Village Red charms with its balance, roundness, and the finesse of its tannic structure. Unadorned, Château Grand Village Red has become a complete, authentic wine, now often affectionately referred to as: “Le Grand Village de Lafleur.”
Convinced of the potential of certain Grand Village soils for white grape varieties, the Guinaudeau family replanted parcels of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon in the 1990s. The first vintages revealed fresh, fruity wines to be enjoyed young. Soon, initial barrel-aging trials paved the way for a greater ambition: to produce a complete, structured, and complex white wine. Since the vineyard’s restructuring in 2000, vine stocks from Sancerre have been introduced to enrich the aromatic palette. Château Grand Village Blanc delights with its floral and expressive nose, its generous and balanced palate, and its long, refined finish.
